Mechanical Engineering


Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest branch in Thiagarajar polytechnic college. This oldest and the largest department aims at imparting high-quality education in Mechanical Engineering through practical and theoretical training. The department is well set to create and maintain an environment which will facilitate the effective teaching-learning process for the faculty and students, thus moulding smart and dynamic mechanical engineering diploma holders, who will shoulder real-life engineering problems by applying practical and theoretical knowledge along with various management tools and professional ethics.Mechanical engineering is used in almost every aspect of everyday life, from cell phones and biomedical devices to flights and power plants. Mechanical engineers deal with economic problems as well as technical issues, ranging from the expense of a single product to the economic impact of a manufacturing plant. Mechanical engineers are also employed in sales and engineering management.The Department has well-equipped laboratories and computing facilities, with the latest technology and syllabus requirements. Well qualified faculty and skilled supporting staff are the other strengths of the department.

Programme Specific Objectives (PSO)
  • Impart Software based skills on pneumatic, hydraulic controlled circuits and NC, CNC softwares with simulation.
  • Inculcate the ability to work with the CATIA, ANSYS and Solid Works soft wares.
  • Provides skill based training on advanced technologies in X-ray welding.
