Right to Information (RTI) - Thiagarajar Polytechnic

Right to Information (RTI)

The Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 is a landmark legislation enacted by the Government of India to promote transparency and accountability in the functioning of public authorities. In accordance with this Act, our institution is fully committed to upholding the citizens' right to access information related to its administrative and academic functions.

Objective of the RTI Act Implementation

  • To empower citizens by providing them access to information under the control of public authorities.
  • To promote transparency and accountability in institutional governance.
  • To reduce corruption and improve the overall efficiency of the administration.

RTI in Our Institution

As a public authority under the RTI Act, our institution has taken all necessary steps to ensure the effective implementation of the Act:

  • Public Information Officer (PIO): A designated officer is appointed to receive and respond to RTI requests from the public in a timely manner.
  • RTI Cell: An RTI Cell has been established to coordinate and streamline the process of handling RTI applications and appeals.
  • Time-Bound Response: As mandated by the Act, responses to RTI queries are provided within 30 days of receipt.

How to File an RTI Request

Applicants seeking information under the RTI Act may submit a written request addressed to the Public Information Officer, clearly specifying the information required. The application must be accompanied by the prescribed fee, as per RTI rules.

Appellate Authority

In case an applicant is not satisfied with the response or does not receive a response within the stipulated time, an appeal may be filed with the Appellate Authority of the institution, whose details are also made available on the official website.

Our institution believes that transparency leads to trust. Through the effective implementation of the RTI Act, we continue to uphold democratic values and build a culture of openness, responsibility, and accountability.
